Batea Mahuida

This amazing snow park started like a project to combine the extreme ski with snow sports. It is located inside the lands of the Puel mapuche community, who reside in this zone.

It is eight kilometers away from the center of Pehuenia Village in the Neuquén province, where visitors can find different kinds of lodgings and gastronomic offers.

One of the main attractives is the amazing landscape around this snow park. It is located over Batea Mahuida volcano, which means "highest fountain", because its crater develops a lake, which gets frozen on the winter. Besides, the snow park counts with a panoramic view to the volcanoes around: Lanín, Icalma, Villarrica and the Moqueahue and Aluminé lakes.

Batea Mahuida counts with snow five months at the year, from June to October, making of this center one of the best alternatives to enjoy the winter sports. It's located at 1900 meters of height and counts with protected hillsides, to conserve the snow from the winds and in a good quantity.

The rates in this ski center are accesible to every visitor. It also counts with other activities to enjoy the mountain in every time of the year like hiking, horse riding, among many others.

Other attraction of this place is to enjoy with mapuche gastronomy. The center is attended by the members of the Puel community, which offers knitting and craftsmanship made for them.

August is the month of the mapuche traditions like the descend of flaming torches, the snowman contests and the "flight of the condors", a descend in slalom with open arms and mapuche`s ponchos.

Batea Mahuida it is located at eight kilometers away from Pehuenia Village, with access by land through national and provincial routes, at 360 kilometers to Neuquén city.

The visitors can also take a flight from Buenos Aires to Neuquén ot the airport in the near city of Zapala and from there get to Pehuenia Villlage, just eight kilometers awat from the ski center.

There the visitors will find different transfers to reach Batea Mahuida snowpark.
